The UFC Fight Night 172 event continues to show the attraction of quality matches even without many famous names.
The main battle of Fight Night 172, Walt Harris – martial artist has just returned from the death of his daughter in late 2019, showing overwhelmingness to the old General Alistair Overeem. He knocked down the Dutch fist at least twice in the first half with deep cuts on his forehead.
However, Harris’s anti-wrestling skills were the weakness that led to the defeat this morning. Approaching intelligently, Overeem pulled Walt Harris to the floor from the middle of the first half with consecutive ground-and-pound strokes. Unable to fight back, referee Hearb Dean was forced to intervene and won TKO for Alistair Overeem in 3 minutes 02 seconds in the second half.
The battle cards (Prelims Card) of Fight Night 172 with 2 tightening victories of Rodrigo Ferreira and Cortney Casey. And right after that, two Featherweight boxers, Nate Landwehr and Darren Elkins made the audience “hot machine” with 3 bloody rounds.
The Prelims Card ends with two beautiful knockouts in the first half of Kevin Holland and Miguel Baeza. Notably, “kungfu” boxer Kevin Holland promises to be a promising name in the Middleweight category with a striking strike.
In the other match, young talent Miguel Baeza forced General Matt Brown to stop in the second half with a beautiful hook, ending the Prelims Card impressively.
If Prelims Card is the early ending phase of emerging fighters, then the Main Card of UFC Fight Night 172 is choking confrontation. From Song Yadong vs. Marlon Vera, Eryk Anders vs. Krzysztof Jotko, Dan Ige Vs. Edson Barboza until Claudia Gadelha vs. Angela Hill is matches that go all 3 rounds with the attacks of the boxers.
Ending the first week of returning with UFC 249, Fight Night 171 and 172, UFC plans to return to the 23rd on May 30th. Unable to determine the fighters can fight, tournament president Dana White said he was calculating the venue changes before making more detailed decisions.
